We’re all familiar with “viral videos” by now. Many people have made careers off them. There are probably lots of different reasons YouTube videos may go viral, but here are some of the top reasons.
1. They’re funny.
2. They’re memorable.
3. They trigger certain emotions.
4. They’re shocking.
5. They’re controversial.
Any video that has even ONE of these qualities has the potential to go viral. People especially love really shocking or funny stuff. These aren’t all the reasons they go viral. There are actually quite a few reasons, but most of them fit into these general categories.
- Sometimes, your video might just go viral out of sheer luck or consequence. If you’re one of those people, consider yourself very lucky. Could you be one of the lucky ones whose video goes viral?
It could be you
Most definitely! Think back to the last viral video you saw. You probably noticed it was either really inspirational or really sad or shocking or funny. That’s where most of them fit in somewhere.
People just love things that really take them out of their daily routine, and make them think. They like things that shake them up out of their stale reality.
It must be authentic
Of course, none of these viral elements can be faked in any shape, form or fashion. If you try to fake a viral video, people will see right through you in a heartbeat. People can tell if you’re being authentic and genuine or not.
If you’re being fake and they see through it, they most likely will not share your video or tell their friends about it.
Nobody wants to watch a YouTube video of someone who seems like they hate their job. By job, I mean, being a YouTuber.
When someone makes videos that they love to make, you can really tell. It shows in their facial expressions, their movement, and their overall attitude.
Some of the best Tubers I know are just people who do random vlogs, yet somehow they seem to capture the attention and interest of millions of viewers.
Why? What makes their videos so memorable? It’s probably because they’re showing their true selves and personalities.
It makes you want to keep watching. Whether they’re giving an opinion on a controversial topic, or whether they’re just rambling about nothing, you want to keep watching because they have so much charisma and personality.
Take Jenna Marbles for example. She’s not your typical girl. She shows her weird, quirky personality in every video. But she seems like a truly awesome person that you would want to get to know in real life. So people can relate to that. It makes you want to keep watching her videos.
Another great example is Hikakin. He has kind of a goofy personality, but he does awesome product reviews and he seems very happy and has a great attitude about everything he does.
Everyone loves a friendly person with a positive attitude. Some people go viral simply because they are jerks, but overall I think it’s best to keep it happy and positive.
YouTube videos go viral for a number of reasons. Sometimes the video just “clicks” with people. It’s like the planets line up in a certain way and decide “It’s their time to go viral.” Some people just get really lucky and become famous because of it.
