Making of an AVGN episode

Being a loyal AVGN fan means watching every episode that comes out.  Some are better than others, true, but have you ever thought about exactly how much work goes into making an episode?

It’s a lot more than most people realize.  I just watched the Bugs Bunny’s Birthday Blowout Commentary episode that James and Mike did, and man, those guys go through ALOT to make an episode of AVGN.

We don’t realize it when we watch it, and some episodes may be really simple, but think of all the editing they do.  And the special effects, I bet those take the longest.  And then, if it’s only Mike and James, they have to trade off holding the camera.

Then they have to do all the acting which probably adds to their frustration.  But I’m sure at the same time they have a whole lot of fun doing the episodes.  It’s well worth all the trouble, because each episode is like a masterpiece at least in my mind.

I know if it were just one person makin the episodes it would probably be almost too much to handle, or at least you would have to make lots of cuts and do away with certain aspects.

I wonder how much they spend on doing special effects and stuff like that.  I know that alot of it they do with photoshop, but even photoshop has it’s limitations.  They probably have some other kind of computer editing and special effects software…I mean I know they at least have to have an editing program.

I’ll always be a die hard AVGN fan.  To James Rolfe, Mike Matei and the rest of the folks at Cinemassacre.com keep doin what you do and bringin the awesomeness!

Zelda Twilight Princess review

I wanted to do a quick review of Zelda Twilight Princess.  Skyward Sword just came out so it made me motivated to play some Zelda games.  I would like to go through and beat them all someday, but we’ll see.

So for all the Zelda fans out there, this game should be something you really like.  While I can’t say it sticks to the Zelda theme completely, it does in enough ways.

There are many things about this game that are *different*, that you wouldn’t see in a normal Zelda game.  Such as Link becoming a Wolf.  There are also lots of completely new enemies in this game.

It’s a VERY large Zelda adventure, so if you wanna play this game be prepared for a long time of playing.

The graphics are very good, especially for when it came out which was  few years ago.  To me though Zelda games never get old :)

One thing I can say I don’t like about this game is the difficulty.  This game is just balls hard at some parts, in fact it’s so hard sometimes that some parts are not very fun.

Unless you really like challenges, then it would be fun for you.

On the plus side, the storyline is really cool, and it DOES include Princess Zelda so I was happy about that.  Overall I give this game a 9/10 .  A very thorough, and awesome Zelda game.

I will be doing a Skyward Sword review at some point in the (hopefully) near future :)

Zelda Skyward Sword First Thoughts

My first thoughts on Zelda Skyward Sword…awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Mind you, I don’t actually own the game, nor have I ever played it.  But being that Zelda is one of my favorite series of games, I couldn’t resist giving my thoughts on this new game.

Now that Skyward Sword is finally out, I will have to eventually own it.  I just need to find the time to actually play it.  I must say, I was SUPER excited about this one coming out, and I’m still just as excited that it’s out.

Skyward Sword, at first glance, just looks like an amazingly awesome game.  From what I’ve seen of it so far, I really don’t have any complaints.  The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay looks really fun (controls and all), and it has some new features that other Zelda games didn’t have.

Skyward Sword is not just another game in the Zelda series.  It looks like they’ve gone all out for this one.  Who doesn’t love another classic installment in the Legend of Zelda series??

I for one, love it a whole crap ton of a lot.  What looks really fun about this game is that it’s a bit different from what you would expect from a Zelda game.  Some of the characters, for example, are completely new, even in the way they were designed.

Everyone has been waiting for Skyward Sword for a lonnng time, and as usual, there was tons of hype and excitement surrounding it.  Now that it’s out, I’ve heard some VERY good things about the game.

I haven’t so far, heard any complaints, other than the graphics, but I think that complaint is silly because the graphics are really good in this game.  It still has little of a cartoonish feel to it, similar to WindWaker’s cel shading, but not quite that cartoony.  It looks more realistic to me than cartoony.

Since I’ve heard so much good about Skyward Sword, naturally, and being a HUGE Zelda fan, I will have to play this game at some point.  However I don’t own a Wii at the moment, so I will have to wait a bit perhaps.

I plan on getting one in the near future though, unless they release a newer system soon.  Unfortunately that’s about all I have to say about this game since I haven’t actually played it.

What are your first impressions of Zelda Skyward Sword?

Archfiend’s AVGN – Bashing video – my thoughts

Youtube user Archfiend, recently, (in October of this year), made a video on Youtube pretty much just bashing the hell out of the AVGN (James Rolfe).  In his “video” he claims to be a former fan of AVGN’s, (which he is)…but apparently he got “fed up” or some bullcrap and decided to start hating James.

Why does he hate James so much now?  First off, because he’s really mouthy and seems to think he’s better than everyone.  Which comes across very clear in his videos.  Secondly, he’s really pissed off at James mainly because James asked for fan donations for the upcoming AVGN movie.

Now, the movie is scheduled to be a full length, feature hollywood film.  Will it be?  Who really knows.  James doesn’t even know that yet.  So Archfiend is saying that James makes more than enough money from Cinemassacre, ScrewAttack, and Youtube (ad revenue) to pay for the film outright.

Even if James DOES make tons of money from ad revenue, he still has bills to pay!  He may or may not have lots of money, who really knows.  If you go to websites and research how much James’ websites make, you will only get ESTIMATES.

He’s not gonna disclose to the world how much money he makes.  And also, movies take a crap ton of money to make, especially if they’re gonna be in theatres.  So I say to you Archfiend, you sir, are a hater, plain and simple.  And i do believe you are jealous of James’ success!  Just my thoughts.  What are your thoughts on this?

Minecraft?

I’ve been watching ZackScott on Youtube a lot recently, and he has lots of Minecraft videos where he plays and all that.  He has a whole place built called Scottland.

I have to say I’m often skeptical about trying anything new as far as gaming, but Minecraft actually looks really fun.  I’m fully aware of how many people already play it.

Minecraft just looks really awesome.

It doesn’t really matter though..I’m thinking about POSSIBLY starting to play it.  I love games where you can build stuff especially, and Minecraft is one of those games.Minecraft

The graphics suck, but the gameplay looks just amazingly fun.  The game isn’t supposed to be about graphics though, no game is when it really comes down to it.  I’m sure I would meet a lot of cool peeps.  I’m not sure if Minecraft is a free game or not, I’ll have to look into it.

Oh, and Know Your Meme (Youtube) did an episode on Minecraft, pretty funny stuff…they’re stuff is always funny.

Why do people play Minecraft?

In my opinion they play because It’s extremely easy to build stuff…just looks like a lot of fun.  It doesn’t looks like one of those super difficult games either, some games are just so difficult that they’re not any fun.

Not to sound like a idiot, but anything Zack Scott endorses must be pretty good lol.  I just mean that based on all his videos we have similar tastes.  Zack’s Minecraft vids are super entertaining to watch.

His vids are just funny anyway, but especially his Minecraft ones.

Do you have any experience with Minecraft?

Emulator problems…again!!

Well what can you expect when you’re playing games on emulators?  Problems, that’s what! LOL.  I’m not mad or anything, just a little upset.  I was right in the middle of playing the Windwaker, and my emulator froze up.

It sucks too, because I was really looking forward to playing that game again.  I guess I’ll have to buy a gamecube for real.  That’s ok, it will be worth it.  At least that way I can start from where I left off in my saved game.

You have to kind of expect problems when you’re using emulators.  The coding simply is not perfect, and coders are still learning how to emulate the games properly.  You have to expect that they probably won’t play as good as their physical counterparts.

Especially the Gamecube emulators, because in the big scheme of things they’re still relatively new.  Really bummed about the game though, that sucks!

Dolphin Gamecube Emulator Success!

Today I decided to try to find a WORKING gamecube .iso file of Zelda: The Windwaker.  I already had the working Dolphin Gamecube Emulator, so all I needed was a working game file.

I already tried a file I got from Emuparadise, but it didn’t work.  It really sucked because I got my hopes up.  It’s all good though, because I finally found a working version from a torrent.

It gets 30 fps, which is really decent actually for a Gamecube Emulator, from what I understand.  I’ve heard of people getting more, but I don’t need more than that.  The game plays SMOOTHLY, and that’s all that matters to me!

I got so happy…it’s awesome to be able to play The Windwaker again, it’s been years since I played it.  I previously had gotten over halfway through the game when I used to own a Gamecube.

For some reason, I never finished the game, but i did keep my memory card with my saved game on it.  But now that doesn’t really matter, because I’m starting the game over fresh!  It will be a nice refresher, because I forgot a lot about the game.

If you’re wondering if a Dolphin emulator will run on your computer, I have an AMD Phenom II Quad Core, 3.4 Ghz with 8 GB of Ram, and an AMD Radeon HD 6670 Graphics card.  Even if you don’t have those specs., you should still be able to get a decent framerate provided your graphics card is good enough.

I’m sure it will be a lot of fun beating the game ;)  Getting back to where I was will take a while, but I’m up for it.  Do you have any experience with emulators?

Dolphin Gamecube Emulator Woes

I decided to see what kind of games my computer can handle, so I downloaded a Dolphin Gamecube emulator, along with the Wind Waker game.

I’m pretty sure my computer will be able to handle the games no problem.  The PROBLEM is that when I tried to open (extract) the archive of the game (so I could play it), it wouldn’t open.

Now I have to find a different copy of the game, probably from a torrent.  Downloading cracks and similar stuff is dangerous though.  Lots of em have viruses.

I really wanna play WindWaker though!  I haven’t played it in so long, I frickin LOVE that game!!

I have Doom 3 though..really wanna try that out on this computer, and F.E.A.R., that game is super awesome as well.

The problem with emulators is that they don’t always work like they should.  I’ve played quite a few emulators, and by far my favorite games to play are the original Nintendo (NES) games.  They’re so fun.

I tried to download gamecube emulator on my last computer and play Windwaker, but to no avail.  The game was so incredibly slow, and choppy…there was no sense in trying to play it.  If I can’t get the Dolphin Gamecube Emulator to work on my computer, then I will just buy a Gamecube, they’re super cheap nowadays.

I got my new gaming computer!!

I finally got my new gaming computer in the mail today (ups).  It’s made by Cyberpower.  Let me just say, this thing is frickin awesome!!

I don’t have ANY complaints about it!  It’s super quiet, runs like a dream, SUPER FAST, and just all around awesome!  The graphics are really intense too,  It’s an AMD Radeon HD 6670 – with 3d capabilities.

This part I can’t believe!!  I can play 3d games?? Well, I’m pretty sure I have to have a 3d monitor for that, but maybe I can get one of those in the near future.

That would be so intense.  Cyberpower makes a really fine computer, let me tell ya.  I’m sure I won’t have any problems with this one.  I will post a video of it very soon for you to see.

King Baldwin music is awesome!

I recently found out about this Youtube personality named King Baldwin.  You may have heard of him.

He plays piano CRAZY style…like no one else I’ve ever seen!  He’s one of the best piano players I’ve ever heard – literally.

His style is so unique, it’s like no other.  And what’s even more, he plays video game songs on the piano!!  How can you beat that??

Most notably are his Castlevania songs from Super Castlevania 4.  Simon’s theme is his best rendition in my opinion..it’s spot on to the game’s actual theme!

He also wears a cool mask in all his videos and talks in a unique voice..you just have to see it to understand what I’m talking about.  Here is one of his videos so you can see how awesome he is :)   Enjoy!
