Pepsi Max Review

pepsi max review

Pepsi Max is a fun soda, and it's really good for being "diet".

Here’s one I thought needed a review – please enjoy my Pepsi Max review. Long time readers of my blog know that I’m a huge fan of soda. Even though it’s unhealthy lol. I drink it sparingly for health reasons. You can check out the soda section for more posts.

What is Pepsi Max?

Pepsi Max came out I believe in 2010…at least that’s when I started drinking it. My overall description of this soda that comes to mind is “It’s a fun soda”. Don’t ask me why lol…well, ok probably because it gets me really hyper lol…and that’s always fun, right? Basically it’s like a diet version of Pepsi, that has a special surprise ingredient added….Ginseng!!

That may sound hard to believe. I’ve never heard of another soda with Ginseng in it, and you probably haven’t either. But I think that’s what makes it so cool. And honestly, Pepsi Max doesn’t really taste much like a diet soda..at least I don’t think so. It tastes really good..almost like regular Pepsi.

But the Ginseng is what really makes it special..it obviously is gonna give you a pretty big kick when you drink it. Who doesn’t love a little extra energy? Everyone needs that sometimes. I’m not encouraging you to drink soda by the way, I know it’s unhealthy, but hey, I’m addicted lol.

Appearance and taste of Pepsi Max

Well as I said, it pretty much tastes like regular Pepsi, and it definitely looks the same. Still has the same carbonation that you love if you’re a big Pepsi drinker. It kind of has a “lighter feel” than regular Pepsi, not as syrupy for sure. But that’s pretty obvious since there’s no high fructose corn syrup.

Of course, Pepsi Max is not comparable to Throwback Pepsi, in my humble opinion. I’m just a big fan of soda with real sugar in it. But this soda is really good for if you need a little extra boost of energy, and a good, crisp tasting soda. Please share my Pepsi Max Review if you liked it :)

Ode To Soda

Soda.

Many crazy flavors, you have.

I believe that you are tasty.

Green, red, blue, fizzy.

Coke, Pepsi, Vault, 7-up.

You’re like some sweet carbonated dream.

That I must escape.

Or can I?  Bottled fantasy.

NOT a failed soda: Diet Coke Review

I know that I usually do failed soda reviews…but hey, since I love soda so much (addicted) sometimes I like to review sodas that are still around.  So here’s my review of good ol’ Diet Coca Cola.

First impressions of Diet Coke:  Now considering my first impression of this soda was years ago, here it is.  The first impression I get from Diet Coke is that it SORT of tastes like regular Coke, but also not at the same time.  Confused yet?  Sorry, not trying to mess with your head or anything.

Back in the 90′s and all the way up until probably the last few years, Diet Coca Cola tasted VERY diet…in other words it didn’t taste very much like regular Coke.  Let’s put it this way, it tasted enough like Coke to let you know it was a Coke, but still left you wanting more.  Make sense?

However I have to say that in recent years Coca Cola has made GREAT improvements to Diet Coke, and now I can say confidently that it leaves me feeling pretty satisfied.  ALMOST as if I had drank an actual Coke!

Diet soda in general has come a long way in recent years, as technology improves and what not.  Basically they are doing many things right with Diet Coke, as far as tasting non diet.  Is there room for improvement in that area?  Absolutely..but for now it will do.

not failed soda diet coke review

TASTE:  Diet Coke for the most part has the Coca Cola flavor that we all know and love.  It’s pretty sweet overall for being a diet soda.

REFRESHMENT FACTOR:  Does Diet Coke leave one feeling refreshed?  Well it does for me at least.  And I’m the one writing this review :P After drinking a glass of this stuff I feel pretty satisfied, with my thirst pretty well quenched.  That’s more than I can say for a lot of diet sodas!

BITE/CARBONATION:  It’s definitely a VERY carbonated soda..at least as carbonated as regular Coca Cola, which is a lot!  If you don’t like lots of carbonation, definitely stay away from this one!

COLOR:  At the time of this writing I don’t have a regular Coca Cola bottle to compare it to (sorry about that)..but from memory I can that the color is pretty similar to regular Coke, it has that dark rich brown color to it.

OVERALL THOUGHTS:  Now being the avid soda drinker that I am, I have tasted MANY a soda in my day (not bragging, just saying I know what I personally look for in a soda).  So my overall thoughts on Diet Coke are that they did a darn good job on it considering it is a diet soda.  They have improved it a lot in recent years.

And it keeps getting better.  In truth, I would probably rather reach for a regular Coca Cola, just because it has a bit more of a fullness to it (as do most non-diet sodas).  But since I drink only diet sodas nowadays,  Diet Coca Cola does a very good job at satisfying.  I would definitely say it’s in my top 20 soda list of all time.

And as far as an actual score, I’ll give Diet Coke about an 8/10.  Pretty good if ya ask me!

Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper Review

Today I thought I would do a Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper Review, because it’s a soda that I like very much.  Before I begin, let me go grab a bottle of this soda so that I can taste it and give an accurate review…..ok I’m back.

I first of all want to say this isn’t necessarily one of my favorite sodas, but it is one I like very much.  I only have very few favorite sodas.  So now, let’s begin the review of Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper!

*Taste*.  Ok my first thoughts on this soda when you take a drink.  The most noticeable thing about this particular soda is the STRONG cherry taste.  You can tell they REALLY wanted this soda to taste like cherry!

And it really does, in fact it tastes like cherry even more than it tastes like Dr. Pepper!  If you didn’t know this soda was a Dr. Pepper variety, you probably might not figure that part out.

Ok so they added a lot of cherry syrup to it, now what else about it?  Well one noteable thing about it is the carbonation……it’s a very highly carbonated soda, much like all versions of Dr. Pepper.  I personally like a lot of carbonation in a soda to give it that extra “kick”.

Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper Color

Ok so now on to the color of the soda.  If you have a twisted mind, like me, you will notice that the color of this soda is kinda disturbing.  It’s actually a deep blood red color.  Kinda funny if you ask me!  If you hold a bottle or glass of it up to the light, you can barely even see any light through it, that’s how dark it is.  Not that color really matters in a soda, but hey, I want this to be as full of a review as I can get it!

The Smell

Now for something really weird, the smell.  The smell, as you would guess, has a very strong cherry scent.  What’s really wierd is that, it actually smells EXACTLY like cherry flavored cough syrup!  Sounds weird, right?  Sounds like something you wouldn’t wanna drink?  Well trust me, you wanna drink this, it’s very tasty.

Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper Overall thoughts

So now you have all the basic information on this soda.  Now I wanna give my overall thoughts on the soda.  As I said it’s not one of my all time favorites, but it is FAIRLY high up on my list of sodas to drink.  Overall, if you’re a big soda drinker, you want a “satisfying” soda, one that leaves you refreshed.  I don’t know about this soda being the most refreshing soda there is, but it’s definitely very satisfying.

My only real complaints of it are that it doesn’t really taste that much like a Dr. Pepper Variety – there’s just too much overwhelming cherry flavor.  So much so that it leaves a weird cherry cough syrupy aftertaste which isn’t very pleasant.  And aftertaste is important, after all.

If I had 5 sodas to choose from, and this was one of them, I would choose it, assuming that the other 4 weren’t my favorites.  Overall I give this soda a 7 out of 10, which is pretty good if you ask me!

I hope you enjoyed my Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper review – what are your thoughts on this soda?

Mountain Dew Game Fuel – Failed Soda?

Have you ever heard of Mountain Dew Game Fuel?  You probably have if you watch television a lot, or are a big soda drinker.

The back story of Game Fuel goes like this.  In 2007, Mountain Dew started using the term “Game Fuel” to direct their soda to the video gaming culture.  Shortly thereafter, they released a new soda called by the same name.

The release of Game Fuel went along with the release of Halo 3, so you can imagine how big of a deal it was.  This flavor of Game Fuel lasted for 12 weeks before it was discontinued.

2 years later in 2009, when World of Warcraft was huge, Game Fuel was brought back with 2 new flavors (to go along with the game).  Again it lasted for 12 weeks before taken off the shelves.

Fast forward to October 2011 (present) and Game Fuel has returned, and soon will be widely available.  The soda is most noted for it’s unique flavors, and it may just be me, but I swear that it has more of a “kick” (probably more caffeine).

I used to drink this stuff all the time back when it first came out…I’m a huge fan.  The flavors have been really good so far, at least the ones I’ve

tried.  I kinda hope they just keep this one on the shelves as a permanent addition to the Mountain Dew family.

You can’t go wrong with a soda that’s made specifically for gaming!!

I’ve always found it interesting that they bring perfectly awesome sodas into the limelight for only short periods at a time.  Why don’t they just keep them on the shelves if they’re that popular??

This is definitely not a failed soda as many people thought, seeing as it’s now back in the limelight.  It’s so good that it’s one of my all time favs, and definitely one of the better specialty sodas that have been released!

What are your thoughts on Mountain Dew Game Fuel?

Thanks Mello Yello guy!

A couple days ago I did a post reviewing Mello Yello, and comparing it to Mountain Dew and Vault sodas.

Somehow an employee of Mello Yello found my blog and commented on the post.

After which, he emailed me and said he wanted to send me a free Mello Yello t-shirt.  How awesome is that??

Thanks a million Mello Yello guy, you rock!  Also, Mello Yello soda is frickin awesome :)

Mello Yello vs. Vault and Mountain Dew

Ode to Vault soda

You are green.

So good, so good.

Tasty…you give me a kick in the arse.

Why do you tempt me?

Unique flavor….citrus explosion!!

You used to be Surge.

Failed Soda collection

I think it would be really fun to have a failed soda collection.  Just  a crap ton of unopened failed sodas, especially my favs…Crystal Pepsi and Surge.  I’m pretty sure there are still a few people with unopened failed sodas out there.

I’m sure if I looked on ebay or something I could find them.  Then I could be like the guy from the Fizzled Out blog…haha.  I don’t really wanna be like him, but I do want to have the world’s best failed soda collection…that would be intense.

failed soda collection

Also it would be really cool to have old Coca Cola memorabilia..there’s a crap ton of great stuff out there.  If you’ve ever watched that restoration show that’s populuar (I can’t think of the name) they often have old Coca Cola stuff on there.

I dunno, I think I just love soda..kinda obsessed with it, although I don’t drink it that much anymore.

Mountain Dew vs. Vault

Another soda post.  Which soda is better, Mountain Dew or Vault?  Well, one mountain dew vs. vaultcould argue very strong points for both sodas.  As we all know, Vault is pretty much just a reformulation of Surge, so we could say it’s been around for a while.

Mountain Dew, of course, has been around much longer.  But the lifespan of a soda doesn’t tell how good it is.  It’s all a matter of personal opinion.  So in my opinion, they are equally good sodas for different reasons.

Mountain Dew has a citrusy taste, very crisp, and gives you a nice kick when you drink it (loaded with caffeine).

Vault, has an even lighter more refreshing citrus taste than Mountain Dew, and gives you even more of a kick.  I don’t know about Vault being crisper, though, I think Mountain Dew might win there.

Vault is loaded with even more caffeine than Mountain Dew, which leads to a pretty gnarly crash after drinking it.  Which I’m not a fan of.

I will say that, flavor wise, I’m a much bigger fan of Vault.  And Vault is more addicting because of the higher caffeine content and the rush it gives you.

As I said though, they are both delicious beverages that I feel are equal but different.  That being said, Vault is still my favorite soda of all time.  Which do you prefer, Vault or Mountain Dew?  Or neither?
