3 things to focus on in your online business

3 things to focus on in your online business

If you focus on the right things, you will succeed :)

When I say “online business“..it could mean anything from a blog, to a network marketing business, to a niche website and more. One area where many people get stuck online is that they don’t know what to focus on.

Focus is the key. If you can focus on the tasks that are really important for your business, then you’ll succeed – guaranteed. Of course you have to be persistent as well. So here are the 3 things, or areas you NEED to focus on to succeed online.

1. Traffic – Let’s say you’re a blogger for example. What’s the lifeline of a blog? Readers! You need to have eyeballs coming to your blog in order for it to be successful. One of your biggest focus areas should be getting the word out about your blog (or online business). Of course you wanna do it without spamming people and shoving it down their throats :) . The more traffic you can command online, the more money you’ll make, period. Traffic = money. This applies to blogging, affiliate marketing, network marketing – everything.

2. Offer – Your offer is basically what’s gonna make you money online. Again taking blogging as an example, if you’re not actually selling something from your blog, you won’t make any money. You can sell advertising space, affiliate products, or if you’re really savvy, you can make your own products. I’m an affiliate blogger myself, which means I recommend other people’s products from my blog, and get paid a commission when you buy them :) So please support my blog by buying something ;) Keep in mind that your offer should be something that has value for your marketplace (or readership). Something that they WANT and will actually help them! Also, you don’t wanna just spam your audience with product offers, the main focus of YOUR blog should be your content. :)

3. Conversion – Conversion is, simply, getting people to buy your stuff. Converting them into customers. What good is an online business if you can’t make sales and make money? Getting good conversion rates is as simple as testing, testing, testing. Testing different blog design aspects, different ad copy, different opt-in form headlines, etc. You have to continually test in order to improve all aspects of your business.

Those are the 3 things you need to be focusing most of your effort on. Everything else besides those, you can eventually outsource and have other people help you get them done. Please share this post if you found it helpful, so that other people can check it out too. Thanks :)

Youtube new design review

I’m just a tad late on this one, but I thought I would review the new Youtube layout and give some overall thoughts as to what I think. MANY people complained about youtube new designthis new overhaul, as can be expected. People were used to the old design for a long time. Whenever you change something people are used to, they tend to freak out. The new design has both positives and drawbacks. Here are my thoughts.

General First Thoughts: At first glance, the first thing I noticed about the new layout is that it’s just more noisy. That is there’s more going on. Generally speaking, on the internet, that tends to be a bad thing. People already get very distracted online, and a website design needs to be focused and to the point for easy navigation.

The new design has a pretty clean look for the most part, but with the added left sidebar there is just a lot more “noise”. The sidebar does have some pretty useful features such as showing your subscriptions right there, showing new comments, trending stuff, suggested channels, and more.

So many people would argue that from a user standpoint this is a good thing. I partially agree…but I just like the old way better. In the subscription stream in the middle of the page, you can select “show uploads only”..which will only show you videos that friends have uploaded.

And of course on the right hand side of the page is the recommended video stream, and the spotlight videos. I have to say the new look is more like a blog..which is pretty cool because Youtube is a pretty social place, just like blogs.

My overall thoughts are basically that the design needs to be simpler. There’s too much going on on the page for you to be able to browse effectively, especially on the sidebar. The old design was simple and clean..and there was really no need to change it. And I tend to ignore the sidebar area altogether, as most people probably do too. Most people wanna check their feed..which is the central part of the page.

I’m not a huge fan of the new design..but it’s not so bad that I’m gonna quit using Youtube…because I’m addicted :) LOL. What are your thoughts? Share this post if you agree!

What’s your favorite social media site?

I probably should have written this post a long time ago, but I haven’t yet to the best of my knowledge (I’ve written many posts so it’s hard to keep track).  This is a topic that we could go on and on about, because there’s really a LOT to be said about it.

There are many different variables when it comes to social media sites (or social networks as many people call them).  But what makes them good, or bad?  Facebook has long been my favorite social media site, ever since about 2007 when I first got on it.  There are many things about it that I love, and hate.  But overall I love it more than I hate it.

Facebook has many cool features, such as Timeline, FB groups, Pages, Games, and so on.  It seems from the numbers alone that most people are just more comfortable on Facebook than any other social site.  Why do you think that is?  Maybe it’s just the viral marketing aspect more than anything.  Facebook has gotten probably more word of mouth referrals than any other social network.

How many times have you heard someone ask you..”Are you on Facebook?”  I’ve asked TONS of people that question.  Like I said Facebook has long been my favorite, but I’m also a huge fan of Twitter and Google Plus.  All of them are great for different reasons.  Facebook tends to be too addicting so it’s just a time drainer…so I enjoy getting on Google Plus and Twitter just to take a break.

Google Plus is quickly catching up to Facebook though (as far as being my favorite).   I like Google Plus better in some ways, one of them being that it’s more “Techy”.  Most of the posts you read there have some kind of Tech theme..usually computer related.

favorite social media site

I like Twitter because you can have unlimited followers, so you can reach a LOT more people very easily.  As for which network is the most viral, well I’ve talked about that before.  But it’s really hard to say.  Twitter may not be very viral if one person tweets something to his 200 followers, but if a celebrity tweets it to their 1 Million followers you better believe it’s going viral.

Facebook has a huge viral potential simply because more people use it.  If you’re on multiple networks you can obviously have a much larger reach if you’re trying to get a message out there.

As far as Google Plus, it still has a long way to go before it’s as popular as Facebook, if that ever even happens.  I think they need to market it a little harder if that’s what they’re trying to accomplish.

Linked in is primarily for “businessy” stuff, but can also help with your social reach, no matter what your niche.  My favorite thing about Social Media is just being able to connect with a large number of people on a daily basis.  Which is super easy too.

For now I’d have to say Facebook is still my favorite social media site….what’s yours?

Google’s New Social Search – Yay or Nay?

So many people use Google nowadays to find information – myself included.  When I want to look something up on the internet – I either go to Google, or Youtube.

Now as you’ve noticed Google rolled out social search, which basically integrates Google Plus with the Google search results.  In other words, some of the search results that come up will be things that people in your G+ network have shared or read themselves.

So is this a good thing or a bad thing?  It depends on how you look at it.  On the one hand, you can see things that your friends have found interesting, which are the same as what you’re searching for.  So that’s pretty cool in my opinion.

It was inevitable for Google to do something like this, as the web becomes more and more “social” every day.  But many people aren’t happy with this new change.  So what’s the downside of it?

Well basically, the fact is, just because something is popular on social networks, doesn’t mean it is GOOD content, and also doesn’t mean it’s exactly relevant to what you are searching for.

I understand that Google is trying to make it’s search results influenced by things that are popular in Social Media…and that’s really cool.  The web SHOULD be social.  Basically I’m not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, but I’m leaning towards good.

There is a way you can turn it off completely though, if you just go into your Google homepage search settings, and just check the bullet next to “Do not use personalized results.”

That’s my opinion, and everyone else sure enough has their opinions on Google’s New Social Search….I’ll leave it up to you to decide whether it’s a good thing or not.  What’s your opinion?

Twiends rules!

I just wanted to tell you about this awesome site I found called Twiends.  It’s basically a Twitter directory dedicated to Twitter users who want to increase their follower base, as well as follow other users with similar interest.

Why Twiends rules

What’s so cool about Twiends is that, once you set it up, it will show you other users AUTOMATICALLY with the same interests as yours.  You can also just see all the users, or see users in your same country.

Then you can follow people super fast, and it’s really super easy also.

twiends seeds

Why I love Twiends

I love this service simply because it is so fun and easy to use.  You also get “seeds” for following other people, it’s kind of like a point system.  And I love it because the people you follow, follow you back almost INSTANTLY.  How much easier can you get than that?

Twiends is ideal for those who want to build up their follower base really super fast.  It’s a really addicting site.  It’s also fun to follow people with similar interests to yours, because then you always have awesome tweets to read!

Why everyone should use Twiends

Everyone and their mother should use Twiends for several reasons.  Mainly, it’s just super fun and easy!  And because you can really grow your Twitter following to be huge, instantly!  How much more awesome can you get than that?  You can’t, trust me.  Everyone who uses Twitter can seriously make their lives easier by using the Twiends service.

Have you used Twiends before?

Thanks to all my Twitter followers!!

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who is following me on Twitter, you guys are AWESOME!  I broke the 4,000 follower mark yesterday.

It seems like I’ve been getting followers rather fast lately..which is really cool.  But yea, just wanted to say you guys are awesome and I’ll try to post some cool Tweets for ya.

Also, if you haven’t yet, please go to my Youtube Channel and subscribe there.  I’ve been making videos a lot lately, so there’s some new stuff for you to watch.

Don’t be a Twitter spammer!!

Whatever you do, just don’t do it.  We’ve all been tempted to spam our twitter followers at one time or another.

It’s so tempting because it’s so easy, and we hope that it will bring us more readers to our blogs, more sales, or whatever.

It’s ok to offer your followers links to your own stuff ONCE IN A WHILE.  But no one likes to be spammed.

We’ve all done it at one point or another.  Twitter is meant to actually interact with people, it’s not meant to spam people with your welcome direct message.

You know, “Hey, thanks for following me!  Check out my blog!”.  It’s really not the best idea, you want your followers to know that you want to actually help them, and share cool stuff with them.

And that you’re a real person.  Not a spammer.  Please, please, please, if you’re a spammer just stop, because nobody likes it!!  And remember to actually ENGAGE, and interact with your followers and people you follow.

It’s easy, just send people direct messages, and reply to their tweets, and retweet their tweets.  Even just doing it once in a while is better than nothing!

I’m addicted to social media

Yea, I admit it.  I’m addicted to social media.  Namely Facebook and Twitter.  I spend a good portion of my day just messing around on Facebook and Twitter, and also talking to friends and stuff.  I also share stuff I find that’s interesting.   Facebook is still my favorite.

I’ve had a Myspace account for a few years, and I’m just now really starting to use Myspace.  It’s actually pretty cool even if it’s not as popular as Twitter and Facebook.  Still, tons of people use Myspace and it’s a great way to meet people.  why i love social media

Recently I got into Google + as well.  G + is gonna be big, I can already tell.  Millions of people are using already, and it’s still relatively brand new!  I don’t think spending too much time on social media is bad necessarily, especially if you’re trying to build relationships.

Social media makes it so easy to get your thoughts and feelings out there, and connect with like minded friends..how could you not love that??  Also I might add that more and more of the web is now becoming social.  Millions of blogs out there, and new social networks popping up all the time.  That’s why I’m addicted lol.

What about you?

Be real with Social Media

Ok I’m on a social media kick lately..I admit it.  Social media is just really fun, there’s so much to gain from it!  I’m mostly a Facebook guy, and then Twitter, and then Google Plus.  But Google Plus is quickly catching up :)

One of the things that really bothers me is when people aren’t real in social media.  We’ve all seen them, the people who pretend to be nice and care, but really they’re just there to sell their product.  Lame!

What can you possibly gain from doing that?  Nothing!  Like I’ve said before, if you’re not in it for the relationships, you’ll fail.  If all you care about is promoting your product, you will only get an occasional ONE TIME customer here and there.

But I’m getting off track a bit.  I just wish more people would BE THEMSELVES in social media.  I wish they would be real and show some personality.  Don’t you?  God made us all different for a reason.social media

And you should use your differences to your advantage.  You don’t have to let it ALL out on your favorite social network, but it really helps if you do show some personality.  You will make many more friends that way.

If you’re trying to build your brand with social media, then the more relationships you build the better.  Those relationships could turn into raving fans!  How about you, are you real with social media?

Are you contributing anything to social media?

It’s kinda sickening that this type of stuff still goes on in social media…you know, people using it only to promote themselves or sell their product.

Most people still don’t get it.

Social media is a platform for Connecting with others…for building friendships, relationships and getting to know people.

That’s why it’s called social media.

So many spammers…I hate it.  We’ve all spammed people at one time or another, even me.  But then I learned what social media is really about.

It’s about people coming together, sharing thoughts and ideas with each other.  Talking, conversing, sharing VALUE with each other.

That’s another thing that kinda gets to me…when people don’t share anything valuable.  If all you’re doing is spamming people with your product offer, and it doesn’t HELP them in some way, then you’re gonna fail.

You may make a sale here and there, but you’re not gonna generate any lifelong customers/relationships.  When you build real relationships that can turn into lifelong friendships…and repeat business, if that’s what you’re after.

You shouldn’t use Social Media only to promote yourself, try sharing other people’s stuff.  Give back to your social media community.  Reciprocate, and in turn people will give back to you.  Try actually contributing value to social media.

The web is now a social place OFFICIALLY…and so please, please use it correctly..don’t become a spammer, or just another marketer trying to push his stuff!

I’ve met some of the coolest people ever on Facebook , Twitter, and Google Plus, and I intend on staying friends with those people!  What about you, how do you use social media?  Are you building relationships or just spamming?
